Volunteer of the Year Award

Each year MVCF awards a Volunteer of the Year Award which recognizes a person whose on-going volunteer effort has significantly contributed to the quality of life in our community.

We are pleased to share that the MVCF Board has designated Cindy Minnick, Director of the Meadowbrook Public Library, as the 2018 MVCF Volunteer of the Year. Cindy has been with the Montgomery Floyd Regional Library System for over 30 years, first working in this area on the Bookmobile. She was active in helping establish the Meadowbrook Public Library, a much-needed resource and has been its director since then. Cindy is greatly loved and respected in this community for her competence, cheerfulness and dedication to those that she and the library serve. In addition to hundreds of day-to-day activities, under her leadership, the Fall Harvest Celebration has raised funds to help support and improve our library for 11 years.

For 6 years, Cindy and the library staff have helped sponsor the annual Prom Dress Extravaganza which provides free prom dresses and accessories for girls who may not be able to afford them. And, through Cindy’s direct efforts, for 4 years there has been a community Back Pack program which provides needed food and nutrition for local school children and their families, including during the summertime.

For all these reasons and, especially, for her fried green tomatoes – MVCF is pleased to name Cindy Minnick the Karen Cronin Volunteer of the Year for 2018!

The Volunteer of the Year award was created in 2011 in memory of Karen Cronin, a beloved friend and volunteer in eastern Montgomery County.
